Within the last several days I started getting the 'Guild Wars 2 Game Client has stopped working' error every time I try to play on my Dell XPS 15 laptop. Previously there was no problem playing on the laptop. The crash occurs immediately after the character selection screen. I double click on a character, the splash screen for their zone comes up and after about 5-10 seconds I get the error message.
I have done the following in an attempt to solve the issue:
I'm running Windows 10 Home, i7, 16 gigs of RAM. Video card is a Nvidia GeForce 960M
Any ideas on how to fix this?
If the crash generates a Crash Report window, click 'Show Details', and post the first part (only) here on the forums. Someone may be able to offer assistance.
Or, you can contact the Tech CS Team via the 'Support' link above/below, and 'Submit a Ticket' for assistance.
Good luck.
Thank you Inculpatus. There is no Crash Report available but I'll submit a ticket.
Is this happening only on one character, have you tried logging into other characters?
You can always try and have the client force a logs:
Just change the work repair to log
https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/articles/201863008-Repairing-the-Game-Client
ie C:GamesGuild Wars 2gw2.exe” -log

Are you sure the Command Line Argument, -log does what you think it does?
You can find all the CLAs here: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
Its intent to to create a log if possible in it next play session's crash. I will admit the way I provided it is a bit crude.
Locate your Gw2.exe file.
Right-click on the file and select Create shortcut.
Rename this new shortcut to Guild Wars 2 Log.
Right-click on Guild Wars 2 Log and select Properties.
Locate the Target line and add –log to the end. (Example: “C:GamesGuild Wars 2gw2.exe” -log)
Click OK.
Double-clicking Guild Wars 2 Log will begin playing your game client. The game will attempt to create a log upon a crash.
To find that log please do the following:
TechAssist.4635: To answer your earlier question, yes the crash occurs on all my characters.
I performed the logging procedure you described and although no 'Arenanet.log' was created, I did find 'Gw2.log' which provided the following:

I just repeated the process and again failed to find an ArenaNet.log file anywhere on the hard drive.
I have submitted a ticket and in addition to running Support's GameAdvisor.exe and sending them the results, they have now also requested the GW2.log and ArenaNet.log 'if present.'
If anyone has any other ideas I am all ears.

Did you end up figuring out a solution? I have the same issue now.
the game for me was perfect until 4 days ago..crash after crash..unplayable
I am having the same issue here. The game client stopped working, the game closes . Crashes repeatedly today, fine yesterday. No error codes to give you. If you find a solution let me know.
Hello there, had the same issue as you guys since the last patch ( 9 january i guess ? ).
I had arcdps installed on the computer into Guild wars 2 -> Bin64 . Simply delete all concerned files ( dl39 something / dl39 arcdps ) and it should work fine. arcdps doesnt seem to work with the new patch yet.
EDIT : assuming you're running arcdps or another dpsmeter. Other people had exactly the same issue, all had arcdps installed, and all stopped having the error when they deleted the files.
after over a week of almost no problems, last night was pretty bad.
also, not sure if related or not, but yesterday i had a lot of the 'picnic-blanket' terrain going on where the graphics file hasn't loaded correctly and it's all white and red splotches.
Never had this problem, today I cant log in. Everytime I try I get this message :The game client lost its connection to the server. Please wait a few minutes before restarting the client and trying again.
Error Code: 7:1000:7006:462
Someone can help me?

The game client lost its connection to the server.
Make sure your computer's time and date are set correctly, then try again.
I'v checked my time and date, and it's correct.
I've tried for two days to play my GW2, W/O success. I can login with password, pick my character, click play, but it is unable to get past the 'Hoelbrak' screen. I wait several minutes and sometimes will get the message 'unable to connect to server. Please try again later'
I have tried logging into my account / support to submit a ticket, but can't get connected. It seems as though I can't connect to anything related to Anet/GW2. Even GW2 Wiki will not load. I've checked the internet for any discussion on server relayed issues, but find nothing.
Please do not ask me to log into my account and submit a support ticket, as I cannot get connected.
Regards, Col. Scott Mitchell USMC
You don't have to log in to submit a Support Ticket. You can use the 'submit anonymously' option.
You could also try using a VPN, or use the 'Search' option for tips on solving connection errors, or peruse the Knowledge Base accessed via the 'Support' link above/below.
Good luck.

The wiki, guildwars2.com and the game's servers are all hosted by Amazon, while support and the forums are hosted elsewhere. If you can't access the Amazon side, you won't be able to login to support, but if you can still access the site (http://help.guildwars2.com), you can submit a ticket anonymously.
You either have a poor connection to Amazon, or something is blocking it. If you can't access http://guildwars2.com, try accessing the IP to check if it's a simple DNS problem: http://54.85.19.255 (403 error) or http://54.208.213.30 (IIS welcome page). They change regularly, so to look it up yourself, open a command prompt (cmd.exe) and enter:
nslookup guildwars2.com 8.8.8.8
You can try tracing the IP to see how far you get (cmd.exe):
tracert guildwars2.com
If you can't connect to the IPs and you're not blocking it yourself, you'll likely need to use a VPN. If you could access the IPs, switch to Google's DNS.
Problem resolved. Noticed that both my GW2 PC and my laptop were loading sights slowly. I decided to visit my ISP site to run a 'speed test'. As a result, I discovered that instead of running at 10+ mbps, I was running at 3+ mbps. I disconnected the modem for a minute, then plugged it in. That fixed the problem. I'm back at 10+ mbps and in GW2 again.
